A beautiful day on the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet. Enjoy a walk along the ocean shoreline while in the forest too!
Kilometre 0 is at the parking lot in Ucluelet. The trail is a wide gravel trail that can be a bit uneven but is pretty level.
There are gentle slopes on the trail but no steps or steep parts. The Wild Pacific Trail begins with a short stroll through forest and then opens up to wide vistas of the open Pacific Ocean. Following the rocky shoreline, the trail meanders along past vista points that usually have a bench so you can sit and take in the magnificient ocean views. Look for whales during the migration seasons and sailboats year long. Also watch for interpretive plaques explaining about life on Canada's West Coast.

Kilometre One finds you at the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse and expansive ocean views.
Continue on and the trail takes you past quiet coves and sheltered areas.
Keep your eyes peeled for the eagles' nest in one of these coves.
At one vista spot with the picnic table, there are stairs that will take you down to the beach.
Look for the picnic table and listen for people's happy voices that travel up from the beach.
The trail continues through a forested area and you'll also have a nice view over Terrace Beach.
Terrace Beach is accessible from the trail to enjoy or continue on the loop that will return you to the parking lot.

Simply put, the trail is beathtaking!

No wonder the New York Times included the Wild Pacific Trail in The 31 Places to Go in 2010
